Big Boy Room for Robert

We decided it was time to transition Beau to a big bed!  He is loving cars, trucks, airplanes and basically all things that GO so we thought he would love that for the theme of his room.  He tends to do better with transitions and new things when he has some time to process and prepare so we took a couple months to get his room ready and involved him in as much of the room transition as we could.  It would be a big change for him since it wasn't only the bed but also the actual room that was different.  He helped Daddy paint and hang pictures and helped Mommy clean his new sheets and bring his "friends" from the nursery into his new room.  When it was finally time for his first night in his "big boy room bed", as he likes to call it, he did a fantastic job! He was really excited and proud of himself in the morning, and we were so proud of him too!  It's been about a month now since he transitioned and he continues to do great in his big bed and is really loving his new room.  So proud of our big boy!!

Seeing his bed all put together for the first time

So excited and loving it!

May 2016

I was able to go to Caroline's dance recital this year!  Daddy and Beau stayed behind since sitting still for long periods of time isn't really our thing right now.  Terry and Grandma Meece drove in to attend the recital as well.  They stopped by the house to visit with Jack and Beau for a little bit.  This was Caroline's first year doing a tap routine as well as ballet.  She did a great job and it was a beautiful show!

Play date in our backyard with Nolan and Emma

We took Beau to the 2nd annual Knoxville's Largest Kids Party held at World's Fair Park.  He had an absolute blast!  There were a lot of activities there for toddlers and he probably did them all.  It was a great morning with lots of laughs and fun!

Making animal footprints at Mommy and Me class

This was a big year for Jane because it was her last year teaching.  After dedicating herself to educating children for many years, she decided to retire.  On her last day of school Wilson and Robert brought her some flowers.  Later on that afternoon, we also went to a retirement celebration that Jane's co-workers were having for all of the retirees at her good friend Wendy's house.  Becca and Tyler were in town that weekend and so we all took Jane out for a celebratory dinner at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.  We got babysitters for all of the kids so we could enjoy some adult conversation and just focus on celebrating Jane and honoring her long career.  It was a wonderful dinner and one I think we will all remember fondly!  Congratulations Mimi!  We are all so proud of you and excited for you to enjoy this next phase of your life.

Watching Aunt Kristie play her last softball game of the season
Becca, Tyler and the girls came to town for Memorial Day weekend.  We didn't get to all go to the beach together this year so it was great that they could make the trip to Knoxville for a little staycation!  Terry, Grandma Meece and Aunt Debbie came for lunch one day and we had a really nice visit with them.  All of the kids had a great time playing and swimming together all weekend.  I love seeing them all together!  They all grow and change so much from year to year.  We wish we could all be together more often but we are so thankful for this family fun-filled weekend!
